Philosophy

I have been fascinated with translating ever since my school English became good enough to let me realize that many of the German books I read sounded a lot better in the English original. A translation should not be the inferior version of the original text!

Language is a living thing. It develops constantly. It is used by living beings, not machines, and it must be interpreted by living beings if it is to be interpreted properly.

Similarly, only a living being is able to translate a text properly, because no machine, no computer, no translating program will be able to feel the nuances in the language, recognize the overall ideas, or develop a feeling for the underlying sentiments. Translating goes way beyond replacing one word with another in a different language.

In order to do an original text justice, the translation must be done with a feeling for words and a sense of style, so that it may become a unique creation of its own.

Speaking about style: I was lucky to be born with an instinct for language and a sense of word style. Therefore,   provides translations with style!
